Melissa Rathbone is a licensed acupuncturist and a board certified herbalist. She earned her Master’s Degree in Science and Traditional Chinese Medicine at one of the oldest and most respected colleges in the United States, The Pacific College of Oriental Medicine.
Upon graduation, Melissa completed post graduate training in Beijing, China where she had the remarkable opportunity to study with Dr Wang Ju Yi, a respected physician with over 45 years of clinical practice in the field of Chinese Medicine. To date, Melissa has made 5 trips to China to deepen her studies with Dr Wang.
Melissa’s initial interest in the Eastern approaches to health and in the system of Chinese Medicine, began in 1993 at the Swedish Institute where Melissa studied to become a licensed massage therapist. Melissa maintained a private massage therapy practice for several years and her knowledge of health and the body, gained from her experience in the massage therapy field , continues to greatly influence her clinical work as an acupuncturist and herbalist. Previous to massage therapy, Melissa was a professional modern dancer, receiving her BFA in Dance from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.
